Letters from Iwo JimaThis film is a war drama, a plot that put a collection of letters of General Tadamiti Kuribayashi, edited by Tsueko Yoshida. The film is centered on the battle for the island of Iwo Jima, which is an important strategic place, located on the approaches to Japan. The action is set during the Second World War. General Kuribayashi was appointed as a leader of Defense Team, the first thing he did was restoring of the defense line, he had unconventional views on the tactics and made full use of them in order to complicate the enemy approach. His innovative approach, he also used in communication between officers and soldiers. Such an approach has angered officers, besides, they have focused on the fact that he could never have practiced in America. In parallel, we are told another story of a simple soldier Saigo, who before the war was the usual baker and now, is digging trenches and suffers constantly from carping commanders. |
